I’m trying 3DS MAX 2009 x64 on Vista x64. I have a strange problem with marquee selecting objects or empty space, it seems to lag or redraw very slow almost like it can’t keep up with the mouse. It’s not really a big issue, just very annoying. I find myself actually needing to wait a second or so for the selection rectangle to show up once I have begun the marquee select. Any ideas?

Jake, let us know what your computer specs are, especially the graphics card. And which video driver Max is using (OpenGl, DX 9, etc.) Usually anything that has to do with the way Max shows on screen is related to the graphics card or the drivers you are using. If you happen to have Max set to use DX10, then change it to 9. 10 isn’t fully supported yet. You may also try updating the hardware drivers on your graphics card. That can clear up some issues too.

Here are my specs:
CPU: Intel Quad Q6600 - 2.4GHz
Ram: 8GB
GFX Card: ATI Radeon HD 4870 512mb (latest drivers)
Max is running on DX9, I have tried DX10. Hope that helps.
Edit: I seem to have it working now, I just switched my windows theme to Vista Aero instead of Vista Basic and it seems to work fine now.
