Please Help.

First thing is I like to be able use the plug-ins I’ve purchased for 3-D studio Max, however they are always an older version.

I have 2008 and some of the plug-ins that I have purchased have been updated for this program.
I have installed 2009, however there are very few updated plug-ins for this program.

Now here’s my problem 2008 quit working.  For some reason.
Uninstall reinstall uninstall reinstall.  Upset now.

Removed 2009.  Reinstalled 2008.
Still unable to get 2008 to work, begins booting then shuts down.

However 2009 will boot all way up.
Would like to be able to have 2008 work as well.

Support from my software provider *&$#@*.  So I am seeking some help here.

There is no reason that 2008 and 2009 should interfere with each other - I have both (32 and 64 bit versions) on the same system and they all work fine. What I would do is
Uninstall both. Remove (or rename) the installation directories.
Using the info in this post remove (or rename) the enu directories for both versions. There are many files in there which are not removed by an uninstall and are not overwritten when you reinstall.
Install 2008 and get it working again, then install 2009.

As for plugins - they won’t (or are very unlikely to) work across versions, you’ll need to obtain updated versions for 2009.

Hi Steve Curley

Thank you, very much for your reply.

Well it looks like it’s time to start all over again by formatting the hard drive and reinstalling an operating system.  It looks like your computer is very similar to my computer.  Very close.

Okay it’s time to reinstall operating system I believe will go with the 64 this time.

Thanks again.
