| Max freezes and corrupts current and previous file at the same time (!)

No, since the computer freezes when it happens, no such activity is possible. :)

Don’t know about the crash, but that strange file loss happens to me sometimes...but rarely, on my dads laptop, though, often. Even autobackup files, all of them from that hour get useless. Like MAX saves them partially and when you exit it closes them. But if your MAX crashes files are not “finished”, like a DVD. Very strange. Not sure why that happens.

Thanks again, guys.
The problem is still here - I just did a total reinstall of Windows, and installed nothing other than Nvidia driver and 3dsmax, but I still get the crashes.
Satya, thanks, but that’s exactly what I did last time it looked like I found a solution. I tried all settings, and in testing it looked like the problem was over, but as soon as I started working on a project, the crashes were still there.

ok, but i don’t know why you sys crashes particularly when 3ds max is running.
UPDATE your Direct X with latest one
why? can’t you try another version of Windows OS like vista and test it.
try lowering the RAM (eg:8GM to 2GB)
work under low resolutions eg:1440x900
contact Nvida support may be they can help you
Its just my idea.
Max freezes and corrupts files, it occurs in many ways, we can’t just blame the problem of graphic card. try changing you hardware components one by one and test again.
loosing the days of work, its really hearts

Thanks again, but I already tried nearly all of that. I’ve tested for MONTHS.
I’ve tried all Nvidia drivers, all RAM blocks individually, disabling all other hardware and software.
I know I can’t get any help from Nvidia, because 3dsmax is the only app that crashes - and the graphics card tests perfectly in all tests.
I know I can’t get any help from Autodesk either, because as another user posted, they don’t even support Geforce.
Replace all individual hardware pieces? Can’t afford that, plus, I can’t replace the motherboard, several licenses I own are linked to that.
