Aero is the display effect in Vista that makes your windows translucent. It takes up more resources from your computer and often conflicts with some programs. So it’s better just to have it off when you’re looking for performance instead of the “Vista experience”.

I see said the blind man. Sure enough, the cool translucent, shadowed desktop effect is gone. I liked it for it’s slick visual effect, but yeah, if it screws up and slows down apps in the process, then forget it.
