Hi,
I am using 3D MAX Studio
I have problem with one file - when i am working with current file software suddenly shows me the following massage:
Mental ray has encountered a fatal error and the application will now shut down. The error is: MEM 0.4 fatal 031008: can’t allocate 524000 bytes
and closes the file.
There are no prblems with other files.
Also when I try to render same file appears massage:
MSG 0.3 error 011105: cannot start thread 7: not enought storage is availabe to process this command
render proccess continues till i click on OK - then the files closes.
Could you tell me what is wrong with this file - it is very small 31 MB?
Thank you in advance.
P.S. Excuse me for my bad English.

The best way to fix your problem would be to throw your file in the bin........it’s rooted

In the Processing tab of the Render Setup window, what have you got for a Memory Limit? The default is 650MB, try putting it up to 1500MB.
That will usually sort the problem out. If it doesn’t, start checking your materials.

This is usually a memory issue I think. Do you have huge bitmaps in the scene. I often find that having too many large bitmaps will do this. Also under your render settings turn off the scanline option and see if that helps.

I foud the issue there was an object consisting from many small parts - when i deleted it - everthing is OK.

Ok , I had this problem too. I am a student and my professor taught me how to fix this. You at some point imported an object or file. When you import these items you not only get that object you see BUT… You may be also getting other objects way way way off in the distance. (that never got deleted when 1st created or was placed there on accident) This is somthing small usually, could be an extra light, camera, or somthing. YOU NEED TO zoom way out and try to find it and delete it off. You will not see it with your eyes. Use your mouse to find it. How do you find it? Well, be in the “select and move” set up. (remember be zoomed out in your view) Then click drag your mouse over the empty gray space to the left or right of your project. You may find it because the mouse grabs a hold of it. If you don’t find anything… be sure to check above your project way up in the sky or way below your project. Oh and don’t forget behind and in front of your project. For me, i was working on a house. I imported several interior objects and found out i could not render at somepoint. I scoped all over the place outside of my house-per my professor. I found extra objects and shapes. One was well below my house or way below my grid and one was way high up. I found that one when I was in my “bottom” view. I hopw this helps. Good luck. :) Just remember, objects you import may have other shapes or objects in that screen you can not see with your naked eye.
