Hi Guys,
I have just started using max 2009 in my new job. I am coming from XSI and need some help getting on my feet in some areas of modelling.
How do I divide an edge or polygon into multiple equal segments using a simple tool? I have been using the cut tool and snapping to mid sections but this takes ages and I run into problems when the surface needs to be in uneven divisions. In xsi I would use the subdivision tool and it brings up a window that allows you to choose how many time you want to divide your selection.
Is there a raycast selection tool as this is the fastest way to model for me?
When I extrude a polygon in edit mesh I click and hold on the arrows and move it away from 0 and then back to 0. Is there a quick way just to extrude a polygon by 0?
I hope you guys can help me out, it’s not easy moving packages :(

IMO Edit Poly is more useful than Edit Mesh, it has a slightly different toolset.
to divide a poly between edges, use Connect.
Not sure what you mean be extruding a poly by 0.
