| Order of install for Design 2009, Creativity, Service Pack 1, and Cat extension
|
|
|
I did a re-install of Max 2009 Design and the extensions for Cat and Creativity and Service Pack 1.
Now when I open a file Max is looking for a sound file that relates to Pro Sound. I opened several versions of the same file with the same results. I don’t recall importing a sound into a still project.
Is there a recommended order of install on the above mentioned?
Already uninstalled the above mentioned extensions and service pack.

I’m not sure if it should matter, but I expect it would be best if they were installed in the order of their release dates. I know the creativity extension came before CAT, not sure if SP1 was before or after CE, I think the SPs and hotfixes have a date attached to them.
I’d like to know how it goes because I may be heading for a reinstall myself. I had problems with my workstation last week, Windows related, not Max, and the only option I can see left to solve it is to wipe my hard drive and start from scratch. I’m not sure what happens with activating Max again after doing that. I wanted to, as a safety net, transfer my Max licenses to another machine, in case things don’t go according to plan, but as things are the only way I can do anything with the machine is to start it in safe mode, and the PLU doesn’t seem to run in safe mode, when I click it in the start menu, nothing happens.

Hi Damab,
I did the reinstall of the problem files and no avail. But I remembered a way to ditch a bogus file. I created a new file and did a merge of all the geometry from the Max file in question and viola all is well. Not sure what happened but I am just glad I do not have to model the entire scene again.
