Where is trhe best place to get some good trees and shrubs?

I only want to get a few at the moment as the US$ to the Aus$ is a bit high right now to get some of the nice packages I have seen. Also I need to wait a few months till I get my new 64bit machine.  So I just need a few 32bit ones for some small projects I want to do at are not going to bring my machine to it’s nees.

It is only a single processer Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.60GHz with 3.25 GB of Ram

So you can see I need something to fit this low end computer.

Also what is the best plant package to get for when I’m ready. (Hopefully in June)

One the new machine. Is it better to get a XP64 or a Vista OS?

Does anyone know how Vista friendly is 3ds max 2010?

Marlin Studios sells low poly trees.
There is no such thing as a 32 bt tree… :-)

If oyu are using VRay - use proxies and render whatever number of trees you want
( I never liked MR’s proxies but Vray proxies kicks ass)

Guys I’m trying to get some advice on this post. Partically regarding XP64 or Vista. I really want to tie down what direction to go as my new machine will be on the high end side and I don’t want to make a mistake. Can some one give me a few ideas. Also on what is the best processer and graphic card types I should be looking at.
I have been playing around with 3ds since 3ds4 days. However I have been doing hobby modeling for flight sim the last 8 years. Now I want to get serious and use it for my profession which is Landscape Architecture. Still a big bridge to cross from where I was with my modeling and where I want to be. So I would appreciate a little advise to make sure I on the right road.

I needed both. You have helped with the plants. But I’m not getting any advise on the best OS for max or any info on vista in with Max.
If there are any threads on this may be some one could point me there like they do with others.

I use XP 64 on 2 of my PCs and XP32 on the third.
(all PRO versions)

Vista works but to avoid additional problems - go for XP.

Regarding Trees and plants - Most of my expenses go to that purpose - I bought some libraries of 2D images and some 3D
I have purchased Vue xStream - Dont even touch it ! - it’s worthless.
I got some libraries from Evermotion and the new one from Vismasters

I tried Onyx trees but they don’t look as real up close

BTW - I didnt try Marlin as they look like the trees I can export from Vue to 3ds format.

Hi,

probably take a look at xfrog plants. They have a lot of different libs , available in different file-formats (http://www.greenworks.de)

If you’re interested, here’s a scene I did some time ago with some shrubs (hope it’s not bad advertisement for xfrog, lol)

http://www.christian-haberstroh.de/strittberg/strittberg.html

I really like their plants, but somehow the development of the xfrog-plugin for max stopped or slowed down (you don’t need this if you just want to use the plants from their libs)
One thing to mention is their heavy polygon-amount !

cheers

Chris

There are not only “some threads” but there is a whole section of “AREA” devoted to Hardware and OS. http://area.autodesk.com/forum/index.php/forums/viewforum/31/
