So, I’m trying to move a Vertex vertically so I can do some leveling.
However, when I try to move my Vertex, it follows a rather specific line as if it was locked.
Btw, the object is essentially a box with a large opening at the top. Even if I bridge the gap, the vertex, still moves along the “Gate.”
I’ll attach a file and ask somebody to see what the problem may be...if it transfers to another user.
Note: This was made via: 3ds Max 9 32-Bit.

Max 9 or Max 2009?
No attachment - please see this post for help with that.
If you mean the vertex is sliding along the edges and won’t move vertically away from them, then the (likely) problem is either that you have Axis Constraints active (there’s a toolbar specifically for them) or you have “Edge” selected in the Constraints section at the top of the Edit Geometry rollout.

1. My program says 9 and that’s it. It doesn’t say 2009.
2. I have attached my file. Thanks for the reminding link.

For future reference Max 9 issues are covered by the “Max through 2008” forum (2008 and all preceeding versions) - this one is specifically for Max 2009.
Your problem is, as I suggested earlier, caused by you having Edge Constraints turned on on the Edit Geometry rollout. Click the button to the side of “Edge” and select “None”.

1. Thanks.
2. Thanks. To be honest I was looking around the menus, looking for something, but that one totally took me by surprise.

You’re not the first and you certainly won’t be the last either ;-)
