hi all i have been having a problem with the camera viewport not redrawing. whenever i come from any other view to a camera view the camera view will not redraw unless i click on the mouse 3-4 times or if I go to view > redraw. maybe its a bug, maybe i don’t know there is a fix for this, or maybe i have some odd setting gone wrong i don’t know but i figured i would put it out there and see if other people are having this problem.
thanks
chuArch

I’m not sure I understand what’s happening.  Is certain geometry not showing up, or materials not looking correct?  Can you post a screen shot of the view before and after?  Also tell us what video card and driver you are using.  By driver, I mean what Max is set to (Direct3D, OpenGL, Maxtreme).

It’s a good idea to add hardware and software info into your signature, like you see below my post.

hi Chris
what is happening is i will have a scene with geometry, textures, lights, and cameras, the usual stuff. i will be working in whatever view and when i go to a camera view nothing will redraw(screenshots are attached). if i click the mouse a couple of times or go to view > redraw then it redraws. once max redraws the scene everything is ok and everything looks the same as if nothing has happened.

i use Direct 3D.

on a side note putting my info in the sig is a good practice that i just never got around to doing. thanks for the nudge.

Hi,

Are you running this on a laptop?  Is it a mobility graphics chipset?

I would double check and make sure that you have the latest graphics drivers for your machine.

Also if you go to the customize-> preferences menu option and then to the Configure Driver button in the Viewport tab, there is an option under Window Updates to enable “Redraw Scene on Window Expose”.

Found it. Rename AutoCamMax.gup to AutoCamMax.gup.old in the stdplugs directory and problem goes away.  I have no idea what new function is lost when you do this.
