Hi, I’ve got this bug (I’m not sure if it’s one) in the perspective view where the mouse wheel and the center of the “camera” are going wild.
Before I imported a hand for my model from another personal file, everything was going well. The center of the “camera” was always the object selected, now it’s wherever it wants. I can’t see a reason?
I’ve checked the units options but nothings helping.

I’ve no idea what’s the problem so I can’t really find a topic about it.

If you know about it, please tell me, or if there’s already another topic please redirect me.

Mouse wheels Gone Wild?  I saw that advertised on late night TV once… :)

There is an icon in the lower right, bottom row, second from the end, that controls your Orbit.  If you click and hold, there will be a little flyout allowing you to change it.  This controls what is the center during orbits.  One centers on selection, one on Subobject, and the other is just labeled Orbit.  I always change it to SubObject (yellow circle).

No worries.  I’ve accidentally hit a shortcut key and changed my selection marquee to a circle without realizing it, then spent five minutes trying to remember how to switch it back.  When it’s something you don’t use often, it’s easy to not realize how it got changed.

Hi again !

Now my problem with rotation in viewport is solved, i can see that the zoom et pan fonctions with my mouse’s wheel aren’t working properly.

Each notch of my wheel and I zoom way too far, the same for the pan mode, It’s too sensitive. If it was a problem of wheel configuration, it would’nt work at all I think.

I’m lost in this matter, so if you heard about it, please tell me.

Thank you.

( p.s. : I’m always in the same file )

Zooming problems are often associated with not having the correct scale for the scene, and sometimes with the location of the objects in the “world”.

Can you post your System Units, Displau Units, and the dimensions of a couple of your objects? Alternatively post the scene (zipped), or part of it, so we can get a feel for how big it is.

1 Unit = 1.0 centimeters.
Display Unit are generic.

My character is about 1.80 meters, there’s a room of approximatively 5 meters by 6 meters.
Right now i’m modeling the head, so it’s kinda tiny.

That sounds ok to me - I use cm for most things as well, unless they’re very small (or big).

A couple of things you can try:- Ctrl+Alt+MMB should give you finer control over the zoom, and selecting your sub-objects then pressing “Z” resets the zoom level, which may give you better control with the mousewheel.
As for the sensitivity, you can alter that in Windows (in the mose drivers), and on some mice the pageup/down buttons (by the mousewheel) affaect the sensitivity of the mouse - at least that’s what happens on my MX518 without the Setpoint drivers installed..

Well, thank you for the shortcuts, that will help untill I find what’s the problem. With that I’ll be able to finish my modeling quicker.
