Hi, i have just set up our new renderfarm with 3dsmax but the installation of the trial version got messed up on two of the computers, and after a reinstall the 30 day trial option isnt available, to be able to run render slave i have to start 3dsmax once and then it can render, but since i cant select the 30 day option i cant start it once, anyone know how i can remove all traces of the install that doesent work so i can get the renderslave to work?

Easier said than done - involves registry cleaners and such which you may not want (or be allowed) to run.

Why not export your workstation license, import it to the slave, do any setting up required. Repeat for each affected slave, then finally put it back onto your workstation.

Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

Try the Autodesk Installation / Licensing forum. Autodesk staff there which is less likely here.

to be able to run render slave i have to start 3dsmax once and then it can render,

Are you sure about that? I didn’t think that was the case. Although in the 2009 version there was that problem with the gamma settings where it had to be setup on all slaves to work correctly.

quite sure, if i finish the install and just perform a reboot without starting 3dsmax in trial mode 1 time the rendering never starts. i am using Deadline renderfarm software if that makes any difference.
