So this is the problem…
I am working on a huge project that is a square mile long. It is a golf course with terrain, buildings, trees, etc. The work flow is modeling everything in Revit 2009 then FBX to Max 2009. I have a separate file for the terrain and a separate file for each building (because they are huge!).
My plan was to Xref the buildings into the terrain file, to cut down on the file size, but the buildings will not fall into their correct positions. My team and I have gone back into Revit and tried to map the correct positions, but every time we FBX from Revit to Max, the position of the buildings gets screwed up. So the question is, how do we preserve the correct positions of the buildings in relation to the terrain when FBX’n from Revit 2009 to Max 2009?
If anyone has any thoughts or ideas or answers, that would be great. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I work in the same way, but I export in DWG files..
FBX does not have option (export on shared coordinates), only dwg has this option..

I had this problem also… But i sort of figured out how to get around it… Export your separate revit files as FBX and than import them individually into seperate max scenes...Set up a main max file for everything to be xrefed into..Than simply xref the scenes and it should all come into the right coordinats.....

Debo,
That is exactly how we work. We FBX the separate revit files and bring each separate element into separate MAX files. THen we xref them together. but the coordinates still get messed up.
Thanks for the comments though. Any other thoughts?
