hi all,
I’m facing an issue i can’t solve on max design 2009 sp1.
I toggle on the 3D vertex snapping.
I can snap on objects or on a grid when i create a new object.
BUT when i go to the subobject vertex the blue cross did not appear anymore and i can’t snap at all.
Is there an hidden function or option? is this a bug?....
this is very annoying.
Thanks for your help !!

I don’t have Max Design installed, so I can’t verify whether this is Design-specific or not.
Could you upload a screenshot showing this problem? If you could, please include the Snaps window from Grid & Snap Settings as well as the Toolbar and Viewport.
Thanks.

here is the screenshot. On the first image i draw a new spline : the snapping is working.
On the second image i try to move a vertex of a spline and snap it on the grid and the snap is not working even if the snap tools is on.

I have design installed, but I can’t replicate this particular problem.
What I’d suggest (as I advised a coworker as well with a similar looking problem) is to go to utilities then reset xform the lineobject.
See if that fixes the not-snapping.

sorry Yves but i dont understand you.
What is “utilities”? a menu, a script....
Moreover, the problem is not only for spline vertex but also for mesh vertex or patch vertex....

Zip and upload your scene, so we can check your settings. I don’t have problems here either, but it may be an issue with your file or how you have things set up.

well i think it is a general Max settings somewhere because it is not dependent on a specific scene.
I try to reset all the UI, i load an UI from a coworker who have not this problem. None of those tests make the snap function.
By the way if i create 2 boxes, each time i create a new object the snap is ok. But to put the first box on the second using the snap vertex, the snap is not working anymore....
Kind of strange, isn’t it?
Drive me crazy !!

It sure sounds crazy, but unless you upload a scene (zipped) which shows the problem on your system, no-one here is going to be able to either duplicate the problem, or prove that it’s the scene file or your system which is at fault.
Have you tried renaming your 3dsmax.ini ?
And a quick “tip of the day” - put your Max version and brief system specs in your sig - it saves us having to ask ;-)
