(Apologies for the duplicate post, I originally put this in the 2010 forum)

Hi,

We’ve just updated to 2009, and I’m experiencing the following problem:

In previous versions of max, you could save an image in photoshop, and it would update in the viewport in max. The only way I can get the material to update the texture in the viewport in 2009 is to select the material in the material editor, then open and close the material editor.

I’m running XP sp3 with a core2 quad and an nvidia geforce 9800 gt. I’ve tried updating all of my drivers, and installing sp1 for max 2009.

I don’t think I’m the only one experiencing this problem either as evidenced by this thread:

Sometimes it updates here but it’s not unusual that I have to at least
click in the Max viewport to get it to update.

It works for me, but… I have to have the Material Editor open and have it displaying the Bitmap Parameters for the bitmap I’m iterating on. Then All I have to do is save in Photoshop and it will update Max, without even switching to Max.

Do you have the Preference “Reload textures on change” enabled?
