So i am trying to use the Animation Layers system in 2009. For some reason the dialog boxes dont want to work for me. One reason is that i loaded a UI that had toolbars for a plugin that i bought but unfortunatly it seems that that UI is missing some of the newer ones that are standard. And the Animation Layers dialog has a drop down list that i dont know how to create through the normal method. And i cant seem to get the other Animation Layers dialog to come up at all..

Is there no way to somehow save particular toolbars separately to import them into a UI?

Ok, i figured it out after many tries… Just open up the CUI files and copy the toolbar scripts from one to the other. But you also have to increment the Window Count to match and add the line below that in CUI windows list.

yes - this really an awkward procedure required to merge some toolbar configs etc…

But be aware that a simple error in the menu numbering or number-crossreferencing within this cui files might render the whole cui-file unusable and make Max crash

I really would like to have some tool that automates this config work in a save and bullet prooof manner ....

Yes it is quite rediculous that there isnt a little tool to organize toolbars. I go through this everytime i update my Max. It would be so simple for someone to write a configuration tool for this. It is just text.
