Hi there,
I have a small problem and I do not know how I created it I just recognized it at a point. You know the blue dots which appear at the position of a vertex when you are in vertex mode. Sometimes when I model here they are correct and at a point they are just gone. Even new created objects have the same problem. I have to close 3ds and reload it to fix it ( for some time ).
I have no idea what I have done ( ofcourse I usally know what I am doing :) ) - what I mean is that I am in the modelling process and do not something special which can cause the problem.

Regards Matthias

I’ve come across it before, where vertices become hidden, even though I don’t remember ever hiding them.
While in vertex SOM, click on “Unhide All” and see if they come back.

Hi,
I thought about that to. But why has a new created box the same issue?

This might not be the cause of your issue, but sometimes I hit Ctrl+Shift+S which is the shortcut for show end result. If there is nothing in the modifier stack, it will hide the blue dots. It doesn’t happen for me when I create a new object though…

I don’t know. When it’s happened to me, I assumed it’s just another bug, but i’ve never seen it in something as simple as a new box.
Did unhide bring them back?

I’m not sure, yet; but, my disappearing vertices may be associated with a “Logitech MX Laser” wireless mouse. Just before my vertices started disapearing, I was suddenly having difficulty with simple object selection.  Sometimes I could not select anything. Continued efforts to select an object occasionally ended with a Max crash. Other times, the mouse would select the wrong thing - i.e. when I would open the “Save As” dialog for an incremental save, the dialog box would open and whatever was below the cursor would be selected without a mouse click. This had never happened before. My first observation of the invisible vertices occured when they vanished only after I tried to select them. At first, the only vertices vanishing were the ones that I tried to select. Soon, they were all gone. All of this started developing over a time period of less than an hour.

The first indication of a problem was with the “Move” transform. In the middle of my work session, a simple mouse move would throw my object out into space. I have a “3Dconnexion SpacePilot” on the same system and it is working fine. The problem seems (for now) to have gone away when I connected an old mouse from of the scrap box.
