xStream 7 has just been released (last week), but with either version (6 or 7) you run the installer,
it installs both the stand alone version of Vue Infinite and leads you to select which 3D package you wish to
use it (xStream) with (in our case Max) and the renderer (Mental Ray for Max).
You can run Vue Infinite as a stand alone package without using Max at all or once you open Max you will find the plugin in the Utilities list,
look in the More section. With version 6 you can launch the Vue interface (separate window) from within Max to do your Vue editing,
with version 7 you can launch the various editing panels directly in Max, though they are modal so you have to close the editing panel
you are working in to see the scene update.
