When using strip render with backburner and Mental Ray, does each computer on the network take a strip or do they all work on the same strip at the same time? If they all take a different strip, and one computer drops out, does all that rendering on that strip get lost?

TIA

Each strip is done by a single machine. When they are all completed one machine will stitch them together to make the final image.
If one machine drops out of the render job, it’s strip will be re-assigned to the next available server, so it won’t be lost.

Thanks for the reply. When one machine drops out, any rendering that machine has done on that strip is lost, right?

If a task is completed, as shown in Task Summary in Monitor, it will not be lost.
If the server is half way through a task when it drops out, the work on that task is lost, but will be re-done by another server.
By task I mean just one strip (or frame in an animation) as in the Task Summary tab in Moniror, not the whole job.
