Dear All ,
I hope to learn some 3D movie / Model software. But unluckly, I don’t know how to select.
In some course, they have 3DS Max and Maya. I found that both are Autodesk’s Software. Both can make 3D Movie / Model.
Who can tell me what’s their differents and adventage? They are very similar, so I am confused!
I need your help!

Search the forums for maya vs max, or max vs maya.

Old topic. Lots of threads.

maya user base are more movie intensive, max currently have more architecture user base ...
I don’t really have the facts but at least that’s what my software reseller tells me.

I tried both but I kinda like 3dsmax’s modeling and interface more than maya’s, that’s probably
because I use it most of the time @ my work place and the tool is already a second nature to
my way of work.

they can do the same. What you should do is check any possible companies in you vicinity and see what they are using. Then you can actually apply for a job if you learn it.
more and more engineering companies have a design department for making commercials and equipment animations.  Most likely these will use 3D studio because.. as far as i know its easier to import engineering models into 3d max compared to maya. But im not certain.

Your main goal is to get a job right? :)

Architecture, for one, is mostly Max-based with Vray rendering. Architectural viz suitable models, such as furniture, trees, etc., are mostly Max/Vray. Joe
