| 3ds Max design Net Render problems

So here is the deal, ive built up my model in Revit 2010, i export it as a fbx and bring it into 3ds max, and save it as a 3ds. The model renders fine on my laptop but when i try and send it to our render farm the file will open, the render window will come up and then crash and backburner manager says “an unexpected exception has occurred” and yea.
i know that i am sending the file correctly because i can send models made in 3ds max to the farm perfectly fine.
w/ the revit base model i have gone as far as deleting all lights and assigning all materials to the 3ds max default and still receive the same error.
Im hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance for any help

Have you done anything to the geometry in Max? I had some crashing problems like that after applying a Cap Holes modifier. For some reason the imported geometry really didn’t like it.
How big is the file (faces)? What are your laptop specs, and the specs of your render farm?

i havent changed anything in max aside from adding day lighting
the 3ds file has 1,272,943 polygons (not sure if thats what your were asking)
as far as my laptop its got an intel 2.4 core 2 duo, 2 gigs ram
the render nodes im not sure about
but our school has 4 blades w/ 8 processes each and 8gigs of ram each

Hmmm… not sure what would be causing the problem, then. The poly (face) count isn’t insanely high, and it sounds like the render nodes are capable of handling the size of the file.
A few things to check:
Are you using BSP2? We’ve had problems with that before. (Renderer tab, Rendering Algorithms rollout, Ray Tracing section)
Are you using Placeholder objects? If so, try unchecking that. (Processing tab, Translator Options rollout, Memory Options section)
When sending a job to Backburner, it’s usually best to uncheck Distributed Render.
That’s all I’ve got for now.
