Today I was trying to render a animation for a uni project and it worked half ok the 1st time (stopped halfway due to lack of memory) so i restarted etc from then on when trying to save a movie file i get an “I/O error”, but more frustrating is that when i go to save out a rendered image the save dialog box pops up only to shut down straight away and crash to the desktop.

I’m up to date with the service pack and hotfixes and have no idea what it could be.

Are you rendering directly to a video file? Try an image sequence.
What format were you tring to save, and what system spec?

Yeh i was trying to save directly to avi which iv done before with no problems but this doesnt really matter since i rarely use animations, the more urgent thing is being able to save still image files
