Hi everyone, im sure there must be a thread on this some where but cant find it!
My question is this:- im network rendering over six machines for an animation three of them are licensed and the other three are just stand alone rendering nodes (servers).
Now we have the three licensed machines all set to the same gamma, how do i set the other three machines to the same gamma? or is it best to turn off the gamma on the three licensed machines.
One last thing i have thought of is it possible the run the final gather calculation over the network?
your help would be much appriciated
thanks in advance

I believe the Gamma settings are stored in a file that Max references, so it can be edited to change the settings.  I don’t recall which file this version uses or where it’s located, but I think you could do a search of the forum here to find the information.

As far as generating the FG map over the network, the answer is yes.  However, don’t use Split Scanlines to render it in strips.  It’s got to be sent to a single machine.  The nice thing is that you can then send the render job that needs that map, but add a Dependency in Backburner so the rendering won’t start until the FG job is finished.
