Help to reduce the polygon count of nurbs (converted to poly)

Hi, I have created nurb objects in max. I have then converted them to editablile polys to delete different bits etc. However, when they are polys, they are very very heavy in terms of the polygon count… see below. Basically I want to reduce this to a managle size I can then render without problems. Thanks.\

just to reinforce this is a nurb which is now an editable poly, I have the original nurb so can go back to scratch.

Go to the Surface Approximation tab in the modify panel of your nurbs surface.
You can set the tessellation method and decimation by regular increments, by parametric divisions, by angle and curvature, etc.....

can any adjustments be made once it is converted to a editable polygon?
