Hi I am a new subsciber to 3ds max. i have the sketchup import option.

I wonder if anyone can help with this question. for an interior scene

I can now import my arrayed component light fittings from skechup, and they appear as ‘instances’ in 3ds.
Is it possible to ‘insert a light object inside one of my instances, and then it appear in the rest?

i know i can use a light omitting material, but need to use spotlights.

it would be great to do this, as there are 100ish spots and would be not much fun to manually add them all.

you could try using scatter. or Array. or i do know there’s a script floating around the net somewhere called “instance replace” that will allow you to edit an object (or group even, possibly) and “replace” all it’s instances, thus updating them all automatically. not sure this would work with multiple objects as the master though.

probably easier to try scatter.
