Hi,
Trying to install 3dsmax design 2010 64bit on a render node, its running windows XP64bit.
I’m logged in as administrator, firewall is off.
Error 1920. Service mental ray 3.7 Satellite for Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2010 65-bit 64-bit
(mi-raysat_3dsmax2010_64)failed to start. Verifty that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
Attached screen grab.

32bit 3dsmax installs, just don’t know why 64bit raysat is having troubles restarting when I have used Admin privileges.

It looks like the installer was unable to start the service by itself, but is it installed and you can start it manually?  Does it start automatically when you restart Windows?

Hi Gary,
Once the error comes up the only option I have is to cancel the install, hitting retry comes up with the same error. So It ends up rolling back the install, uninstalling what it just installed !
So I banging my head against the wall.

cheers

My reseller helped me out with this link.
I changed the regedit and it worked.

I have the same problem and tried the “mrfix”, but it says it is for 2008. Does that matter? Because it didnt work for me.

I have a better solution for this problem.

The solution works only for WINDOWS 7 64bit or 32bit users not for other version of OS. Actually i never tried on any other then these.

While installing the Application try not to change the directory location then the default. This solve the problem at the best. If still you are getting the same error then try installing the application with admin access.

Cheers
