| MAXtreme/3ds Max 2010 Performance Driver ?
|
|
|
Hello,
Will there be a MAXtreme/3ds Max Performance Driver for 2010? Do we all just have to wait?
thanks

This is official from Nvidia Support:
“
Hello again,
I received this information about Maxtreme for 3DS MAX 2010: I’m very sorry, but there will be no MAXtreme for 3DS MAX 2010. Not even a “Performance Driver for MAX2010”.

Hmm. Does that mean a Maxtreme performance driver isn’t needed?
Max 2012 SP1 64bit - started in Max R2.5 ( Athena) far too many years ago…
Vista 64 (yes, yes… need to get Win 7)

Well, I understand it that way.
But to be honest I am not sure that Max 2010 will use all the power of Quadro cards.
With Maxtreme I had always some problems and limitations (no shadows, no Aero support etc.), so until “normal” drivers work fine, I don’t miss Maxtreme…

Eh? surly that’s not true, I had temporarily stopped using max 2010 because it was so slow, thinking that i’ll start using it when they relese the optimised drivers. To be honest if they don’t I probably wont bother using 2010 at all, no amount of features are worth a 50% vewport speed decrease over max 2009.
Ooo I’m really pleased I spent £1600 on a quadro card, that will only be as good as the geforce equivalent!

I am sorry, as I said, I got it officially from Nvidia support. The guy was checking the information two days and then came with conclusion from the developers - “no Maxtreme for Max 2010”.

I can’t see how NVIDIA can justify the high cost of the Quadro for max users, if there is no benefit over the consumer geforce card. So the future for quadro users will be slower performance, or don’t upgrade past max 2009, or just buy a cheap Geforce with the latest chipset.
Life is good!
Thanks for the info though, I’ll uninstall max 2010 ASAP. Teddy right out of pram! ;-)

But what about:
Quadro Release 182 WHQL
Version: 182.46
Release Date: March 30, 2009
Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bit
Language: U.S. English
File Size: 45.4 MB
“Integrated AutoCAD and 3ds Max Performance Drivers in the graphics driver with auto-detection, providing increased performance. Support for three latest versions of AutoCAD and 3ds Max. Standalone versions or version updates can still be downloaded from the NVIDIA driver download page.”
3ds Max Performance Drivers not the same thing as the MAXtreme thing?

It includes Maxtreme, but for Max till version 2009.

Then the info provided by nvidia is misleading , “latest version” is kinda stupid to write in a case like this. :(

yes I agree, I guess they wrote it before max 2010 came out. Back when they supported max subscribers.
