Hi,
I’m having this issue where I have no material preview and I cannot render.
I have the lastest video card drivers and DX update.
I’m in DX9 mode but it’s not working either in openGL

My config is:
3dsMax 2010 x64 SP1
windows 7 x64
GeForce 470GTX
Phenom II X4 965

here’s a screenshot of what it looks like:

anyone can help?

Thanks a lot!

Sounds crazy, but try an older driver.
Although, I am not sure what you mean by “cannot render”.  Do you mean the viewport is blank?  The render should not have anything to do with the video driver.

I tried even with openGL, same thing… when I say cannot render I mean when I press F9 or click the render button nothing happens at all. :S

I’ll try another driver to see what it does.

Windows 7 is not a support OS for 2010.
You may want to search the forum for Windows 7 compatibility issues.

Here is a link to the Knowledge Base on renaming/deleting the 3dsmax.ini file. When this file becomes corrupted, strange things will happen.

Or this one:

I do not have Windows 7, but I’ve heard turning off Aero sometimes helps.

Your display card drives would not affect a Render Scene command.

Also notice the scroll bars on the Material Editor are messed up.

Thanks I’ll take a look. But that’s still weird, I have 2009 and it’s working fine. I also had 2010 on 7 before I format my computer today and it was working fine.

nice! it seems that recovering the 3dsmax.ini file did the trick! it’s running fine again!
Thank you!
