OK, finally NVidia released its performance drivers for Max2010. With all the promises that there would be no difference between Max2010 and Max2010 Design, the installer does NOT see Max2010 Design.....COME ON !!!!

Before Autodesk fixes this, you can do this:

extract the files form the Installer/Archive, locate the file 3dsmaxpd.drv and copy the file to your 3ds max design 2010 directory.

This worked for me.

Using Vista 64 Bit

Any tips?

Edit : Okay got it working now - thanks for the advice mate

You should extract the files manually with 7zip, for example.

Here.
You need to tell it what card you have and which OS, then it shows you the driver.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/Quadro_winxp_x64_191.66_whql.html

So...where does it say that this a “performance driver” for Max 2010?

I tried this driver and couldn’t set my monitors to 1900x1600 like they are now. In fact I have 2 identical monitors and the only way I could get a display on both was to go into some sort of television mode. When I did that the one monitor was displaying what looked like 800x600. The whole windows desktop would scroll when the mouse was moved to any outer edge of the computer monitor. Very unusable!

This is very dissapointing. I have had issues with the last few drivers from Nvidia...ever since I got the shiny new FX4800.

Autodesk has a page where has the number of the last driver of nvidia proved and going ok .

On my case the last good one is 190.28 ( quadro fx 1700 ) , even nvidia quadro has 191.something published . with the 191 i was
having crashes and problems , and reinstalling 190.28 , then all ok again .
before installing new drivers take a look to the autodesk page about drivers proved and with the ok .

those crashes are fixed in all drivers from 191.07 and up so 191.66 Quadro is fine ....
