No matter what the model is, if I rig it myself, the same thing always seems to occur. Rotating it by nearly any angle, causes sections of the model to stretch outwards, which causes an unnatural look. This error also carries over to external editors. In addition to this issue, animations that originally went with this bone structure do not display correctly either, with areas such as the hands and feat appearing upside down, while the other areas also suffer from the stretching. I've slightly modified the bone structure to fit the new model it should support, which I assume may have something to do with these errors? To ensure that equal distances between the the shifted bones stay intact, I selected both bones opposite to each and moved them via scale. Additionally, it appears as if the only areas that flip upsidedown when pared with the animations are the areas that I used with the scale. Other than that, what could be causing this to occur? I've included two attachments, one pre-rotation, and the other post rotation. Any help solving this would be appreciated, as the only method I know getting the bones to move in opposite directions equally is scaling, and I'd like to fix this without having to re do the current rig if possible. First I start off by making a box, and I just extrude it along the polygons. After I make a completion around I target weld and export it to UDK via .ASE. The problem is that every time I try to see how it looks, the result is a dark black-like color. There's no textures on it, and I tried flipping the normals, nothing has been of any help. I know I could try repainting the texture by hand, (and I have...) but there's a couple of reasons preventing this from working. It's also painstaking, and I need a workflow that's a little more definitive for other hair in the future, including long hair. I'm currently using Max 2010, but I'd be willing to hear if there've been any improvements in any newer versions as well. The only rendering software the computer is capable of running is OpenGL, not DirectX, which appears to be the default. Apparently, the View Cube will not operate when OpenGL is being used, which prevents me from navigating the scene properly...
