Lately I've noticed that (when using Max 2010) the memory usage pretty much stays the same. Right now Max is open and I chose 'Reset'.....it's hovering at 320,508K.... Example: I have a scene with multiple objects grouped together. I have a Server Chassis which is the the largest geometry in the scene with multi-sub object material applied - Each sub-object has a standard map with a diffuse texture. Now I have a rack server group inside that server, with another multi-sub object material with diffuse maps. I want the ability for max to resize the textures based on the surface area that polygon face takes up in the scene. So the script would resize in groups - If object face takes up the 75% of the group size - resize texture to 1024 x 1024, if group face takes up 50% - resize to 512, if group face takes up 25% - resize to 256, if it takes up 10% resize 128. I have attached a sample of one not working for me. The wood at the top should have a carved look to it, but instead what should be carved is just flat lines. Lot's of threads full of shock and horror about it. I've made a script that makes the viewport switching in max2010 behave like max2009. So changing a view (when maximized) has it's memory back. (also works as 'normal' when not maximized) http://www.jdbgraphics.nl/clients/ProViewportSwitcher.zip -unpack and save script file in a folder of choice -load scripfile in the max script editor (maxScript/open) -do an 'evaluate all' ( in the script editor: tools/eval all) -now in max go to 'Customize/Customize user interface -goto 'keyboard' tab -in 'category' pulldown select 'JDBgraphics' there you'll find alot of ‘swapToLeft’, ‘swapToCamera’ etc commands. Assing those to the t,l,f,c,b,p etc keys to override the max2010 behaviour and make it workable again. I just noticed this after wasting rendertime for about 3000 frames without getting pics. I JUST CAN'T believe this s**t, 3ds just messed up my current job together with the deadline. Can someone reproduce this? Is this that complicated to just fix bugs and introduce new features instead of introducing NEW BIG bugs?
