Hi there,
as I am a lazy man I really like shortcuts. But the problem I have I can’t rember all of them. I’d like to use many of them but I don’t like to remember STRG+Alt+Q or something like that.
I use an X-Keys additional keyboard here giving me 58 max functions by one click. As I find it very useful for me I made a colored template for 3dsmax. I am using it on several versions yesterday I did the configuration for 3dsmax 2010.

It works by assigning shortcuts with a special software ( shipped with the x-keys ) to the x-keys. Than with the printed layout you can make the keys looking good and directly recognized.
The first image is a picture of my x-keys. As you might notice the layout is a bit different than in the overview ( second image ). This is due some of the features in the overview are covered by my 3d device so I do not need them on the x-keys. But for common non 3d device users the template is better.
So feel free to use it, print it and have fun with it. For me it’s a big help. It is fully customizable so maybe my template is just the beginning for own.
If you need an x-keys you can get it here:

http://www.x-keys.com/xkeys.php

Within my zip file a psd file for printing is included, also the shortcut file for 3dsmax , an installation guide and the MacroWorks X-Keys Software.
It uses the default 3dsmax shortcuts so nothing is overwritten. Some functions do not have a shortcut yet so there is also a 3dsmax keyboard file with the additional definition.

Regards Matthias

Very cool, thanks for sharing.  You’ll notice that if you are in a maximized viewport, that the hotkeys for switching views don’t work like they used to.  :( You end up toggling Min/Max, then selecting another view, then toggling the Min/Max again.  :(

I’m looking forward to better voice control through Dragon or Vista, too.  :)

Hi,
It works fine here. Have you checked if the shortcuts are assigned to the viewports? Which one fails to work ? Voice Control is a good thing, let me know when you have a cool solution.

Wow, this might be easier for me to do some heavy “Expert” mode, without having to go through menus and such.
Very pleased to see something like this.
