I’m using Max 2010 SP1 x64 on vista 64. I can not get the XRef Scenes window to open at all. If I go to file/ references/ xref scenes nothing happens however Inherit Containers, XRef Objects, and File Link Manager work.
I have even tried to assign XRef Scenes to a hot key but that fails as well. I have not been able to find a solution anywhere. Any ideas?
On a side not I want to get rid of an error that pops up at Max start up that says:
“MAXScript Auto-load Script Error - C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\st...”
How do I find the rest of that path. Its cuts off after the st. Its clearly somewhere in my stdplugins folder but I’d like to be able to pinpoint which plugin is the offender. Is there an error file somewhere that lists the path or way to enlarge the dialog box (it doesnt resize.)
Thanks

It is probably offscreen - often caused by moving from a 2 monitor to a single monitor system.
Open Max, open the dialog (although you can’t see it). Without touching any other keys, or clicking the mouse, press Ctrl+Space then M then use the cursor keys to position the dialog. Press Enter when done.
If that doesn’t work then the easiest way is to rename your 3dsmax.ini so Max can create a new, clean one. Note that you’ll lose many customisations if you do that.
Max 4.2 through 2013.

NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
