Hi

I just installed Windows 7 64 on my main machine. When I render with backburner it renders as it should but it does not write the output file and give me the following error

Cannot open tempory map file mrmapd_tmp_a03896

I’m using backburner 2012. The same file and settings work fine under XP 64

Thanks

Unfortunately it appears there are a number of problems with BB2012 and Win7, though this is the first I’ve heard of this particular error. Search the 2012 forums for BackBurner and a number if ideas have been posted.

The primary thing to know is, at this point the Subscription Advantage Pack that was released in Sept. or so is what is causing most of the problems. You need to uninstall that completely and only install the Hotfix that came with it. I believe some updates may have recently come out, but start there and see what happens.

There is a little misinformation there. The SAP caused an issue with users calling 3dsmax.exe or 3dsmaxcmd.exe from a service. It would only effect users using the Backburner serversvc.exe.

Backburner 2012 is working fine here on XP and Windows 7.

Most issues related to Backburner are not related to Backburner, but the application that Backburner is executing. You need to figure out the problem with 3ds Max to fix the issue. To me it looks like a UAC access issue.

It looks like the problem is with the manager.

If I run the manager on an xp machine the problem doesn’t appear.

I installed the 2008 version on the win 7 machine and that also works fine.

2008 saves files into the program folder, where as more recent versions save to user folders so that could be part pf it.

This sounds like a network or network permission issue.  Make sure everything is mapped and has permissions to write files.

Backburner 2012 indeed has a few conflicts with Win 7 as far as installing and setting up user permissions, but it works fine - once you get everything connected and running.

Try to disable Firewall…

It helped to me, maybe here is an issue…

Thanks for your replies.

It was a UAC issue. I turned off UAC and now it works fine.
