I installed 2013 and went straight to the customize settings to tone down the grid intensity. It’s always the first thing I do. The colour changes but if I restart max the setting reverts to the installed default. Strange thing is, I also change the viewport active border colour, but that setting is being remembered fine.

What’s going on here? I can’t remember ever having problems installing max, but first the 2013 installer caused all sorts of problems with .NET, and now this.

Thanks
Mark

I’m not sure, but try after you’ll make some changes>Save Custom UI Scheme>Ок.

Its definately to do with some internal file related to customization in the 3dsmax directory. But thats technical. But you can try opening max in the open gl or direct 3d mode first change and save the settings there, then re opening in nitrous mode. Or reinstalling max will do..

Also, u can try going to customize- custom ui and defaults switcher and check whether its set to first option “max”, default ui or not. If not select it and set. Then restart max and try your stuff…

Thanks. Nothing I’ve tried so far has worked. 2012 is on the same system and I’ve never had any problems. I know the file system for customisation in 2013 has changed, but I have no idea why that should stop 2013 from remembering settings. Some kind of file privilege issue?

Anyway, thanks for the help.
Mark
