Hey im trying to get IRAY to work with my new graphics card, but it just wont, i have downloaded the newest patch for Max and my graphics card, i even downloaded the Developer CUDA pack and the Beta Developer Drivers, nothing gets this thing going, i know it didn’t work att launch but heard that kepler should support CUDA now and in turn IRAY, so if anybody has any tips or tricks on how to fix this little issue pls do tell.

Yep… Nvidia has done their part, we have to wait until Autodesk will do what they should do much more earlyier.. Witch is get Iray to work with the Kepler architecture. The cards are on the market 4 quite a while now, and we still have to wait 4 it. It’s so bad, becouse I just can’t wait to put my hands on my new gtx 6804gb…

I’m waiting and praying so lonag now, even God is telling me, to switch to Vray RT :D
No ofense what so ever for God, but anyway Autodesk should definitly post some timeframe 4 this. Iray dev blog just keep posting useless crap insted of telling - WHEN? It’s been like a couple of months since the post : “… stay with us, we get it to work soon...” was published..
Maybe someone from Autodesk will read this and throw some new light on the subject.

Any updates on this? Was thinking of getting a 660 Ti with 3 gigs, guess it will only be useful for Vray. At least some one is actually developing rendering solutions for Max......
Core i7 920
Win 7 64 Bit
12 Gigs Ram
ATI 5850
Vray 1.5 SP5

I love Autodesk, but I do think they need to work more closely with Nvidia on this, and other Nvidia-based parts of Max.
There is a new version of iray that has more features, and there is the iray material, which is quite awesome. This should all be in Max already. I know there needs to be testing, etc, but we are impatient customers :)

Come on Autodesk, where’s it at? It’s been long enough now. Should’ve been ahead of the curve already.
Intel i7 3820 3.6Ghz 8 CORE HT / CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO / OCZ Vertex4 256GB SSD v1.5
Nvidia EVGA GEFORCE GTX 660 3GB v314.22 (Nitrous in max) / Dual Dell Professional P2311H 23" Displays
ASUS P9X79 PRO / G.SKILL ARES 64GB 1866 DDR3 / Antec…

Why doesnt Autodesk just throw vray in the 3d studio max package
Oh and it sucks I cant use my 2 4gb 680 in sli to render

Well… with iRay, SLI has to be off, as normally iRay would see all the cards you have and use them.
Problem is Autodesk still hasn’t provided their solution for iRay to even work at all with the 600 line (kepler) cards. :(

well just today i installed my new MSI GTX680 4g card..tried it in max 2013 right away with IRAY..imediate crash..not of Max but the error said something to the effect that the video card has stopped rendering...??? i was only rolling thru the scene....my scene had no lites at all anymore...very strange..never saw that condition b4..?? so i came here and read a post about changing the time for rendering frames..in the render options menu..changed mine to “unlimited”..now all works GREAT....its seems there are many problems with IRay and many different “combos” of problems..i,at least, cant see anything common..except older video cars..altho there must be...like everyone sez..Autodesk should be on top of this IRay driver stuff and have some answers for us users....maybe there are more issues than we know of and Autodesk is having problems coming up with a unified “fix”..who knows..?? here’s my setup
win7 pro x64
gigabyte x58-udr3 v2 mobo
intel i7 975 xtreme oc’d to 3.84mhz
24g ram (kingston)
MSI GTX680 4GD (not OC’d..yet)
4 WD 500G hd’s 1-WD 1TB USB 3.0 hd
3ds Max 2013 PU5
..found a post here about a free renderer called “Corona” (beta) i downloaded it and tried it..renders at IRay quality in about 80% of the time...give it a try..right now it is FREE...i think it only supports 64bit os’s tho. it is still being developed.
oh BTW.. i see that Autodesk has bought NAIAD and u can no longer get the demo..and all is very tight lipped about anything else...this may be “old” news as i didn’t c any real time dates..just scanned article breifly tho..maybe it is going to be in the new 3DS Max 2014..right!
or maybe only offered to “subscription” members..who knows? Autodesk will not respond to any questions about it..(its a “fluid simulation app..with 3ds max support)
does anyone here know anything more about it ..or even have the app..demo or not??

I sure hope your right.
Hopefully that is some true insider info via mental ray/nvidia… Because apparently this is in autodesk’s ball court now....
Maybe in the form of a HOTFIX?

you mean you spoke to nVidia’s Mental Images group? Isn’t mental ray just a renderer created by mental images, now under nVidia’s wings? Maybe I’m confused, but I’m pretty sure that’s right.

You were right!!!!! Thanks! And your post was the ONLY sign of good news for this! Why Autodesk couldn’t do the same baffles me? Wish they would at least give a heads up on important things lile this. I realize they can’t divulge everything… But certain IMPORTANT things please. The Kepler/iRay support really took awhile… Probably why.... They probably would have been bugged even more.

What disappoints me is Autodesk’s total refusal to comment to users (customers) about this at all. Autodesk really needs to have another look at it’s customer relationship management.
