I am just curious to know if anyone has had any luck with backburner after service pack 2 was installed.  I have been very hesitant to install 2013 after reading all the issues.  I am currently running 2012 with 2008.1 with absolutely no issues.  What a people’s thoughts?

Product Update 2…
No more Service Packs...just to be clear.

Stick with what works until you NEED to upgrade...With that said I am running 2013. I have not yet upgraded my render farm and will just back save to 2012 on this project to render it and work on the farm while I wait for the renders to finish.

Yeah I think I am going to sit the next few innings out with 2013.  Maybe they will see enough threads about this and fix all problems with 2014

Which problems are you talking about? I use backburner every day with Max 2013 and I have zero problems. There’s a lot of things I complain about with Max 2013, but backburner isn’t one of them. It works as it should, no problems at all.

3ds Max 2013, Windows 7 pro 64bit.
MSI NVidia GeForce GT240, 1GB DDR3 (Driver 286.19).
i7 2.93Ghz , 16Gb CORSAIR Vengeance RAM, DX9.0c.

here’s what’s happening after I installed pu2

after pressing the submit button in the Network Job Assignment dialog, backburner hangs and doesn’t respond. I press the red X to close the dialog. Windows 7 then gives the option to try to restore the program. backburner gives error message “not connected” then closes and max returns without crashing. The rendering job renders without a problem.

since it basically still works, I’m leaving it at that.

I believe it depends on the OS and certain OS settings. My guess is it requires Vista or later and depends on the application timeouts store in the Windows registry.

Autodesk does know about the issue, but when we may see a fix hasn’t been made public.
