Upon opening a file that rendered great in 2006, it looks like crap in 2008. All the colors are off from what they were. The files were rendered with scanline. What has changed that would cause the major shift in color? 2010-12-22T20:35:33+02:00 Problems with Mental Ray materials (arch & design) http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-viz/problems-with-mental-ray-materials-arch--design/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-viz/problems-with-mental-ray-materials-arch--design/page-last/#When:17:55:35Z When using the arch and design material, i get an error message when trying to select a template (metals, finishes, etc.) I get this message in the script window: -- Error occurred in Set_mrArchTemplate_ActiveMaterial_FromMaterialInMatlib(); filename: C:Program FilesAutodeskVIZ2008stdplugsstdscriptsmeditfunctions.ms; position: 4703 -- Frame: -- mrArchTemplate_ActiveMaterial: Material #25:Arch___Design__mi -- strMtlName: "satined varnished wood" -- matFromLib: undefined -- Error occurred during fileIn in StringStream:"MeditUtilities.Set_mrArchTemplate_ActiveMaterial_FromMaterialInMatlib mrArchTemplate_ActiveMaterial "satined varnished wood" -- LOC_NOTES: do not localize this" -- No ""getPropNames"" function for undefined I already tried replacing it with the same scrpit file from another computer. I have three models all generating this same error message (no photons stored after 10000 photons). I have done a ton of reading over 3 days to figure this out. I have put a sphere around my entire model, a box, checked the lights to make sure they are positioned right, move lights, make sure none of my materials specular level is pure black, same for glossy and still I get this error! Any ideas????????? What I really want to do is to save multiple perspective views...seems easy enough in theory, but as far as I can tell it can't be done! Argh, is any possible way to do this? 2010-01-22T10:33:20+02:00 Render Partial View http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-viz/render-partial-view/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-viz/render-partial-view/page-last/#When:21:05:06Z Hello, I hope I explain this correctly; Is there is a way to render specific items in my scene with areas of non-rendered objects subtracted from my end result? Example, a perspective view of a sidewalk that is partially blocked by some foliage of a tree. I want to render just the sidewalk, and have the space of the tree subtracted from the render. My objective is to create a scene that can be zoomed into for a website project I am involved in. As far as I can tell, VIZ 2008 does not have this capability, unless anyone can instruct me otherwise. I have found a plug in that seems to be a good candidate, called Swift 3D Max (from Electric Rain) but the trial version I have downloaded & installed is not working - Viz doesn't recognize the renderer. The support folks at Electric are of no help, I have yet to get a response from them. We are willing to purchase additional software to make this work, but not if the trail version isn't working.... My deadline is approaching, any recommendations for plug-ins would be much appreciated! Thanks. 2010-01-07T10:18:30+02:00 Vector Renders http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-viz/vector-renders/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-viz/vector-renders/page-last/#When:22:18:12Z I'm looking for a way to render my static model to a vector format for web purposes. The goal is to create a render that a user can zoom in and out of with out losing resolution. I'm using VIZ 2008, and as far as I can tell there this is not an available feature by default. That said, I am a novice user and maybe just be missing something. I've looked into a 3rd party plug-in named Swift 3Ds Max that claims to work for both VIZ and Max, but the trial version I have downloaded doesn't seem to be compatible. I'm troubleshooting with the 3rd party, but in the meantime I wonder if there is anything else out there I can use. 2009-12-10T22:18:12+02:00
