We just upgraded from Viz 2006 to Viz 2008. Upon opening a file that rendered great in 2006, it looks like crap in 2008. All the colors are off from what they were. The files were rendered with scanline. What has changed that would cause the major shift in color?
I’ve messed with the gamma, can’t duplicate the colors, and the exposure control is set to what I had before. It seems to only be effecting the Ambient, Difuse and Specular. anything done with a jpg/bmp seems to look the same… but the brick and other materials that i created using the Ambient, Difuse and Specular look completely different.
I am having the exact same problem—but upgraded from 2007--2008.
I’ve spent dozens of hours trying to fix this - with multiple variations on;
1. Gamma Correction vs. No gamma correction (with multiple settings)
2. Environment - Brightness/contrast/midtones/Physical Scale
3. Different Sun/Daylighting Values
*Scanline and Mental Ray Renderer produce the same results.
It seems like I can not get any saturation with my materials on any variation of the settings. The results are always either dark and dull - or light and dull.
Even if I create a new file, with default settings, tried every light type and daylight system, even the viz default light—every material does not render correctly (even with new mr materials). Tried everything in previous posts—but nothing works.
The settings that worked fine in 2007 are Environment—ambient is solid black/Logar. Exp Ctrl/Brightness 67/Contrast 58/Physical Scale 90,000/with ext. daylight selected---mr sun and mr daylight/No gamma correction
The materials are represented perfectly in the viewport and material editor / the lighting appears to be accurately displayed in the viewport
