| 3ds Max 2009 and Vista 64

Please help - I installed Windows Vista 64-bit-home. I have a Quadro FX 4400. I now bought and installed 3Ds Max 2009 and Adobe CS4. I installed latest drivers for Nvidia 178.46 AND in addition Performance driver for 3DS Max 32bit and 64bit. I have 8GB RAM. The result: 3DS MAX is not working at all (very small, crashing) and the same with Adobe Photoshop. The same happens if I run only the 32-bit version of 3DS Max. WHO CAN Help? what is wrong? Thanx in advance! I also tried the drivers 178.26 and 169.39!

Since you didn’t say what kind of hardware you got, it is kinda shooting in dark to diagnose your issues. Anyway, make sure all drivers for chipset, video and related hardware are 64 bit installed in a Vista 64 bit setup.

Thanx for your reply. Can u specify a bit more, which hardware info you need?

Did you install while logged in as Administrator?
Are you running Max while logged in as Administrator?
What do you mean by “very small”?
If both Max and PS are failing I would suspect either the hardware itself or possibly, as already mentioned, the drivers.
And please don’t create duplicate posts - it clutters up the forums and fragments any replies. The duplicated post has been removed.

Cannot tell what is happening there, but just so you know it will work on Vista (ultimate 64),
I’m running Max 2009 64 bit and Photoshop CS4 64 (in fact, the entire Master Collection) here with great stability.
Just a thought, make sure you have all the Vista updates installed, as well as any Max and Adobe updates.

Is it possible that it is a problem that I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium?
I now de-installed 3ds max and then Aobe CS4 worked fine.
Thanx.

Think I’d try to install Max again now that Photoshop is running ok,
the Max system requirements don’t mention a version of Vista, just Vista and Vista 64 so it should work.
And Photoshop specifically does mention Vista Home Premium as supported.
