Good Evening everyone.

After trying almost everything which came to my mind, i need your advice.
I’m a Student and, from time to time, i play around with the 3ds Max demo.
I’ve never experienced any problems so far, but recently, Max is acting weird.
When i double click on my shortcut, the loading screen pops up.
So far, so good.
But instead of loading, it stays in the ‘3ds Max is initializing’-State, which then renders my whole machine totally unresponsive for about a minute or so.
After that, it just starts without any errors.
Same happens when saving a file.
For some time, disabling my network card fixed the error.
Well, not anymore.

The log file did say something about ‘write error’ the last time i checked.
I’d paste the exact message, but i keep forgetting where max stores its stupid logfile.

I didn’t change the system in any way, except upgrading to a new ssd. (Intel 80 Gb)
But since not a single app gives me any errors, i highly doubt the ssd to be the culprit here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have been having boot up and file save errors for a while now. Today, My OS hard drive went in the tank!!! Beware and back up often. IT will now put my OS in a raid one as they are not happy. Too bad they didn’t listen just last week when I asked them to make an “image” of the OS drive and change it from a Raid zero to Rain one. I love the “I told you so” factor but HATE the down time.

You might try turning your virus and network security software off and see if that helps.

Antivirus has never caused me any problems so far.
Well, turning it off had no effect either.

As for network software/firewalls, there is none installed on this pc.

This issue is still present, even with the new 2012 edition.
I did update my drivers, my bios, cut network connections, disabled antivirus and so on.
Nothing.
I’m assuming this is hardware related, since it’s the same with 2012.
Any ideas?

So, after cloning my HD to another non-ssd Drive, Max works perfectly fine.

However, that ssd doesn’t cause problems at all in any other program and i don’t really want to downgrade just because of Max.
Anyone came across a similar issue?
