I have tried several ways to install my copy of 3ds max 5.1 on my new Windows 7 box and have had no luck.

at the very end of the install process i get an error 436:4:1, don’t remember the exact text but basically says the cdilla.dll had a problem.

click OK and try to launch and get several other errors 7.1.29 and CDA0082 and 7

i have tried loading in compatibility mode and still nothing.

is there anyway to get 3ds max 5.1 loaded?  I really don’t have the money to just buy a new version

thanks in advance,

3ds max 5.1 is not supported on windows 7, 3ds max 2010 isn’t even supported on windows 7. you’ll either have to go back to xp, or dual boot xp with windows 7. windows 7 has some kind of xp mode but it probably won’t work with that either.
