I posted this on Autodesk Installation and Licensing forum last week but haven’t found a solution yet.

We have recently upgraded our site to 3ds Max Design 2011, version 13.6.0.118 (SP2), on Windows 7 64-bit. The user path for Materials is not working, neither the default nor any custom path.

By default, the Materials path (located in Customize > Configure User Paths > File I/O) is “.\materiallibraries”. If I go to the Slate Material Editor and under the Material/Map Browser click Open Material Library, it does not open the location specified in Configure User Paths, whether it’s the default path or a custom network path. It defaults to the Windows Documents library (on first launch) or whatever location was last specified (if you browse to a different location). No matter what you put in the Configure User Paths, it doesn’t work.

Other user paths are working (either default or custom), e.g. for Scripts, Photometric, Images.

Any idea if this is a bug for 2011 and whether there is a workaround? It worked fine on 3ds Max Design 2010 on Windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks!
