Hello together,
actualy I trie to install 3ds max 2011 32/64 on a dell precision 8core machine.
OS is Vista 64 Business SP1, IE=8, UAC is on, Im installing with admin-rights
At this time max 2008 32 and 64 is installed and works fine.
We have the same machine twice in our office and on the first machine max 2011 works.
The second machine breaks the setup at the installation of backburner.

The logfile brings up several errors:

2010/11/22:14:23:22 Administrator RAOUL4 === Setup started on RAOUL4 by Administrator ===
2010/11/22:14:25:29 Administrator RAOUL4 Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) Failed Failure is ignored, Result=1603
2010/11/22:14:25:29 Administrator RAOUL4 Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x86) Failed Failure is ignored, Result=1603

2010/11/22:14:27:51 Administrator RAOUL4 === Setup ended ===

At this time Im running out of ideas.
Does anyone has a suggestion what I could try??
(I also tried to install not from dvd but a downloaded package, with the same result. I also tried to install the Visual C++ from a microsoft package, but nothing works)

Thank you for any suggestion.
Best regards,
Stefan

Problem is fixed
A knew useraccount with admin-rights fixed all issues.
Best regards,
Stefan
