Hi,

We have switched to 3dsmax2010 x32 (sp1+connection extension) on xp pro x32 sp2.
Last directX 9 (august 2009)
last nvidia drivers 191.07

Previously we were using openGL, and never had any problems (fast and reliable). We allways had different slow, buggy dx viewports on previous versions so allways stayed with Ogl. This time, with last drivers, last dX, and max2010, it is fast enough and we have realtime shadows, which is a great benefit for us.

But, we have a LOT of problems !
On several workstations (all iCore2QUAD Q6600 with 8600GT), max crash sometimes (windows bluescreen/reboot) when we have max open and start, for example, a quicktime player, or flvplayer.

On another station, same hardware but dual monitors, max is extremely slow when opening material editor, in viewports, etc. And : Autocad LT2010, when starting, directly crash windows (bluescreen) when max is open in dx mode. All problems solved with max in openGL.

So, any advice would help.
Thanks
Kib

No, I had 191.07 and it is the same with 195.62. I’ve also download some custom drivers from guru3d, will have to test. Several persons here have now revert back to openGL, but still get some blue screen, so I guess it is a pure nvidia driver problem. I allways had problems to get stable drivers ...

Yeah I tried to do the same thing with upgrading my driver to 195, but like you said , it didn’t help it all. I don’t understand why this is just started happening though. If you do find that those customized drivers work, would you mind pasting the link to them, I’m on a Nivida 8800 GTX

Good luck
