In winXP I could change the 3ds max default preview player to whatever I wanted using the following tip I found:
Max uses the player it gets from a specific registry-entry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AVIFile\shell\Play\command\
if you change the “(Default)” - Entry,
(on my sys it was “C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe” /prefetch:8 /Play “%L” )
to point to your most wanted player, max uses the new player instead.
To play the preview with mplayer2 ( the old classic mediaplayer)
simply change the “wmplayer.exe” to “mplayer2.exe”
“C:\Program Files\XP Codec Pack\mpc\mplayerc.exe” /Play “%L”
However, now I’m all lost at sea in a world of win7. The registry is a very different ocean.
Does anyone know how to fix the default playback?
(I’ve associated AVI with Media Player Classic in the OS, but Max has a mind of its own...)
Any helpful suggestions very welcome!
Peter.
