No - it’s a Windows program so you can’t “run it in DOS”. You can start it from the command line, but you’ll get the same as if you double-click a shortcut to it.

You could check in your system Event Log to see if there’s anything of use in there.

Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer

simply put, your laptop is not powerful enough. even if you get it working some how, your not going to be able to do much

I don’t think they intend to rival Pixar… Just do the odd render. I run it on a 3yr old HP entertainment laptop and it does me fine!

Yea the command line didn’t help - as was stated…

Event viewer seems a bit lacking in info… I can open it, then open programs, attempt to open one that doesn’t open unless you’re admin etc… and nothing shows up. The last ‘event’ was 2 hours ago…

There has to be a ‘logging’ switch you can use to see what happens when the program ‘starts’

Solved!

Symantec Endpoint AV software was the problem : )

Totally uninstalled it and Max runs fine - just got to get them working together now.

Thanks for all the input

If you have a look at my post directly underneath yours theres a link to fix the seymantec Endpoint protection and max problem :)

As long as SEP AV is installed locally and not run via network (which i’m assuming its not being a laptop) the fix should allow both to work at same time.

Seem’s like i’m not the only one with this problem :)

Hope this helps…

Griff
