HI every one
I am going to upgrade my computer. I’m not sure which Graphic card I should choose. I heard about GPGPU. and I checked that HD 5750 has about 700 stream processors. I wanted to know that GPGPU has an effect on 3ds max rendering via mental ray renderer or what?

Not yet.  Right now, mental ray in Max only uses the CPU for rendering.

(check out 4:56 min in, they forgot to plug the sooopadoopacomputa in)

(maybe also take a look at Nvidia opposed to ATI, I “personally” like Nvidia since things seems to work better with it… i look at Nvidia like Intel is to CPUs and ATI is to AMD… seems developers place Intel and Nvidia absolute first during development.... that’s my “personal” opinion of course, i am sure many will disagree).

right now iray http://www.mentalimages.com/products/mental-ray/irayr.html
and octane render http://www.refractivesoftware.com/index.html
use gpu to acelerate render processing.. both with CUDA technology… but its not only a video card theme,,, the motherboard is very important… actually i know that ASUS has an mobo that support CUDA..
im a fanatic for ATI RADEON series,,but at this time.. with iray ummm… i think in the future will buy a nvidia…
