I’m trying to configure a Laptop able to handle the renderings -
Dell Precision M6400
Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX9300 2.53GHz
8 GB RAM (Upgradable to 16 GB)
500GB Hard Drive
1GB Nvidia Quadro FX3700M Video Card.
I can’t find anywhere, if the video card is supported for 3D Max
My other option is 512MB FX2700M Card.
Any comments?
Thanks

We have a Lenovo W700 that has virtually the same spec (including the 1gb FX 3700M) as the Dell and it runs perfectly with both 2009 and 2010. The viewport ambient occlusion, shadows and hardware shading work brilliantly and fingers crossed Max hasn’t crashed out on it yet…

Yep. I run a slightly less powerful Dell Precision M4400 with the FX 1700M in it (512MB of video memory), but it also handles all of the eye-candy that Max 2010 supports in the viewport without a hiccup and rendering is nice and zippy. I’m really happy with it.
I’ve been a fan of the Precision line of laptops for some time, and what’s cool about the new M4400 is that if you invest in the docking station, it supports dual DVI out, so you can set it up to run dual monitors at 1900x1200 resolution as well. Makes it a prime candidate for a desktop replacement in some cases.
I hope that helps.
