Any tips?  My render window will not open no matter what way I try and open it.  There is a check mark by “render” under “rendering” but no window.

Thanks

First and foremost thank you for your reply.  Please excuse my ignorance, I am a producer/director and am learning the basics of 3dsm for the 3D No-glasses medium.  Could you tell me where I can find the window that you posted?

Thanks,

jv

That would be on the Common tab of the Render Setup dialog.  Use the button on the Main Toolbar or go to Rendering pull down and select Render Setup.

Thanks for your help Stephen

I found the “Render” under “Rendering” which I can only assume has the Common tab for the Render Setup. Unfortunately, I can’t access the Render window in anyway including - selecting “render” under “rendering”, f10, or choosing the teapot.

When any of those are selected, the check mark appears next to “render” but no window!

Sounds like your render window has been moved off screen.  Go into the 3dsmax.ini and find the line that looks like the following.

[RenderDialogPosition]
Dimension=1018 109 363 615

Adjust the numbers to be 100 100 200 200, and then restart Max.  This should put the dialog back into view for you. The location of the 3dsmax.ini file depends on your version of Windows.  Please note that some of these folders may be hidden so you may have to go into Tools>Folder Options to unhide them.

Vista
C:/users/<current login>/AppData/Local/Autodesk/3dsmax/2009-32bit/enu

XP
C:/Documents and Settings/<current login>/Local Settings/Applications/Autodesk/3dsmax/2009-32 bit/enu

Stephen, I can’t thank you enough.  I’m more of a Mac than a PC and had to do some research how to see the hidden files, and BAM there is was.  Rendering is up and running!

Thanks again!
