Hello Everyone

just testing my brand-new GTX580 with 3dsmax. I heard it is incrediblle fast if
you have scenes with a huge amount of polygons.

But if i pan or rotate in viewport, even when the scene is empty, i get max 17frames per second....
And if the scene contains 4Million Polys (i made some Turbosmoothed Cubes) i get max 4frames....

This is my System
i7 2.8GHZ
10GB RAM

Nitrous is active.

I reinstalled max but nothing happened. Hotfix is installed too.
I’ve got DirectX 11 and the newest driver for the card.
I even set my Bios to standard settings because the cpu was overclocked.
I also tried the other grapic-modes...nothing helped yet....

Anyone with the same problem or an idea?
Thanks

3dimensions, after trying lots of configs i did something that really works, changed my viewport FTS from 5fps to 250fps in my GTX470! but there’s a problem, i’ll explain later… Try the following:

1 - download latest drivers form nVidia
2 - perform a clean install. Uncheck all (nVidia HiDefinnition Audio and nVidia Updates), check only the Drivers and Physx
3 - proceed with install
4 - DON’T RESTART YOUR PC
5 - Start Max
6 - Enjoy Full Speed

But when you restart your machine,, slow again. Now I have setup.exe (nvidia) in my computer’s startup. I want to keep it permanent, but solves the problem for now. I’m in contact with nVidia support, i can call you if i fix it.

Hope it works for you too!!!

have you tried setting windows 7 visual effects ‘adjust for best performance’ and are you sure you have the latest drivers that came out on the 1st June 275.33. also you didn’t mention if you have the hotfix for max 2012 installed?

Thank you Companioncube

I got the Hotfix and the newest drivers.
I checked the Windows-Settings and did’nt help.

I was wondering if the game-perfomance is slow too.
I tested it on Crysis2 with extreme settings. It was fast.

But i fixed the problem.

My GTX580 is from ASUS.
You get a slow viewport when you install the card with all in-house tools.

So for all GTX580-ASUS users: Never install the Smart-Doctor tool from ASUS.
It will break your viewport performance for 3dsmax!
